Structures:

  • Sanctuary of Athena Pronoia: The sanctuary of Athena Pronoia lies just to the East and below the sanctuary of Apollo. It includes 2 temples, 2 treasuries and the unusual round tholos building.
  • Temple of Apollo at Delphi: The temple of Apollo dominates the Delphic sanctuary. Evidence survives for three temples built on the same site. The first temple was destroyed by a fire in 548/7, the second by an earthquake.

  • Theater at Delphi: The theatre facing the valley below was built in the Hellenistic period.
    Ancient Reference: Paus. 10.32
  • Treasuries at Delphi: A number of treasuries erected by individual city-states line the Sacred Way (the Siphnian, Sikyonian, and Athenian treasuries are the most famous).
    Ancient Reference: Paus. 10.11
