Who owns the rights to IAM materials?

Unless otherwise indicated, all text, graphics, images, and computer code presented on the World Wide Web via the base URL http://iam.classics.unc.edu and subordinate URLs is the intellectual property of the Interactive Ancient Mediterranean project and is protected by U.S. and international copyright laws. 

May IAM materials be copied, reused or redistributed?

The Interactive Ancient Mediterranean project does not permit the reuse, copying or redistribution of the site's computer code or graphic components (i.e., logos, buttons and the like); however, IAM grants permission to individuals and organizations to copy, reuse and redistribute text and images from the site, under the following conditions: 
  • copying, reuse or redistribution must be for personal, academic or educational purposes
  • copying, reuse or redistribution must not generate a profit for any party
  • if images are copied, reused or redistributed, the photographer's name must be prominently displayed and clearly linked with the image
  • copying, reuse or redistribution must not substantially alter the appearance or content of the material
  • the copied, reused or redistributed material must clearly display the following notice:
  • This material originated on the Interactive Ancient Mediterranean Web site (http://iam.classics.unc.edu)
    It has been copied, reused or redistributed under the terms of IAM's fair use policy.

If your intended use of IAM materials qualifies under the limitations outlined above, you do not need to contact IAM in advance for permission; however, we are always interested in hearing of ways in which IAM materials are being used. Please see our Using IAM section. 

If you wish to use IAM materials for a profit-making enterprise or for another purpose not covered by the policy outlined above, you must contact the Project Manager in advance of the intended use. Permission may be denied or a charge may be assessed. Contact as follows:
