There are four ways to search the IAM web site:
- Keyword
If you are looking for a word or phrase which could appear
in the history or description of a particular place (e.g. Julius Caesar). Keyword searches also
look for names or name variations
- By type of place
If you want to search for all places of a particular
type (e.g. Roman province) or in a specific modern country or region
- By ancient author or source
If you are looking for a list of places to
which a particular ancient author or source makes a reference or references. Also search our ancient author database to find
an abbreviation, or to find what an abbreviation stands for
- Cultural objects
If you want to list all examples of a type of
object (such as aqueduct) available in the database along with the place
or places which refer to that particular object
